About Ash Resources
Founded in 1979, key shareholders of Ash Resources have been local power utility Eskom and major South African cement companies. Today, Ash Resources is the country’s leading manufacturer and supplier of fly ash products and is a powerful partnership between Lafarge South Africa, subsidiary of the international Lafarge Group, a world leader in building materials, and Peotona Group Holdings.
In 2009, Peotona, a 100% South African women-owned investment company, acquired the 25% equity shareholding in Ash Resources formerly held by Roshcon, an Eskom subsidiary.
Having access to the financial and technical resources of the Lafarge group is a unique strength for Ash Resources. It enables us to bring our customers the benefits of global expertise combined with our unequalled local experience. Our pioneering development work has turned a by-product of Eskom’s pulverised coal-fired power stations into an important environmentally-friendly and sustainable building material.
Ash Resources operates five strategically located fly ash processing plants integrated with Eskom coal-fired power stations, and has 5 million tons per annum of fly ash under its management. The Company’s 200 employees are recruited mainly from the local communities in which it operates. Our head office is in Edenvale on the east side of Johannesburg.
