PozzFill® is widely used in the production of general purpose concrete products and in the manufacture of cement. Other applications include structural fill, road stabilisation, grouts, mine back-filling and dry precast products. PozzFill®, like DuraPozz®, fully complies with the requirements for fly ash as a constituent in factory blended common cements in accordance with SANS EN197. DuraPozz® and PozzFill® are delivered to site in pneumatic tankers.
Description
PozzFill® is produced from pulverised fuel ash, which is extracted from the flue gases of pulverised coal-fired power stations.
The product is predominantly aluminosilicate and spherical in shape, comprising particles ranging in size from 75 micron to submicron in size.
This unique combination of particle size distribution and chemical composition of PozzFill® enables the product to impart significant features and benefits when added to a concrete mix or when included in a cementitious binder. PozzFill® is supplied dry and is light grey in colour.
Application
The spherical shape, size distribution and chemical characteristics of PozzFill® significantly enhance theperformance of concrete.
- Readymix concrete: PozzFill® is used In a wide range of standard and specifically designed mixes
- Precast: PozzFill® is used in the manufacture of dry and semi-dry products as well as wet cast applications. Improved vibration, compaction and aesthetics are features of PozzFill® concretes
- Mining Industry: grout packs, backfilling and wet-sprayed concrete benefit from the inclusion of PozzFill® in the mix constituents
Advantages
- Improves the lubrication and workability of concrete mixes, while reducing the water content and lowering the water/cement ratio
- Increases the ultimate strength of finished concrete products without increasing cement content
- Reduces bleed and segregation, facilitating easier placing
- Particles range from 75 micron to submicron in size. This grading improves the quality of concrete, especially where there are deficiencies in the particle size distribution of the sand or cement
- Improves cementitious binder economics
- Promotes higher later-age strength development due to product’s pozzolanicity
- Improves surface finish and texture
- Enhances mix rheology, particularly under vibration
- Facilitates compaction and placeabillty of the mix
- Improves quality of fine aggregates with deficiencies in particle size distribution
- Environmentally-friendly: reduces carbon footprint of concrete.
- One ton of CO2 is saved for every ton of cement replaced by PozzFill®
